The Role
Our Engineering and Design group is looking for an Electrical Engineering Technologist to join the team. Your role will be to assist the project managers, technical staff and multi-discipline specialists in the completion of projects and technical designs. The focus will be on electrical design but opportunities to support other disciplines are also encouraged and may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs project designs using knowledge of relevant codes and software programs.
- Works with other engineering and design disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project design under the direction of a senior designer / engineers.
- Assists with design duties on projects of various complexity.
- Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the senior design and engineering staff.
Requirements
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology. Registration with ASET is required.
- 0 to 4 years experience in electrical engineering and design.
- Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of engineering design.
- Understanding of design concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings and other similar material.
- Experience producing SLD, wiring diagrams, panel layout, cable schedules, routing GAs, etc.
- Ability to complete 3D designs using AutoCAD or similar software. Experience with Plant 3D and Civil 3D are considered an asset. Experience with CADWorx is considered an asset.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
General Information
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Occasional field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
