The Role
We are currently recruiting for experienced Telehandler Operators to join our team at Kearl Oil Sands, a major oil sands site in Northern Alberta. The successful candidates will work in a safety-first environment on a 14/14 rotation. Camp accommodations and meals provided. Charter flights provided from designated hubs in Edmonton and Calgary with flight allowances based on the province located.
This project is 6 months in duration and will be starting at the beginning of March.
Compensation/Benefits
- CLAC hourly wages
- Payday is every Friday
- Company contributed RRSP & Pension contributions
- Benefits after 300 hours
- Paid training
- 10% vacation and stat holiday pay on regular earnings
- OT at 1.5 after 8 hours per day
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Operate telehandler safety and efficiently to lift, move, position, and place materials at varying heights and distances
- Conduct pre-operational checks and basic maintenance (fluids, tires, attachments)
- Select and properly install approved attachments (forks, buckets, man baskets, etc.) as required
- Interpret load charts and ensure lifts are within rated capacities
- Communicate effectively and clearly with ground personnel
- Follow site-specific safety procedures, lift plans and manufacturer operating guidelines
- Maintain clear work zone and ensure safe travel paths
- Assist with material staging, loading/unloading trucks and jobsite organization
- Identify and report mechanical issues, hazards or unsafe conditions immediately
- Work in coordination with other equipment operators, trades and supervisors
- Comply with all company, client and regulatory safety standards
Skills/Education/Qualifications/Requirements
- Valid Telehandler/Forklift Certification
- Previous experience operating telehandlers in construction, industrial or live-plant environments
- Strong understanding of load charts and safe lifting practices
- Physically capable of working in demanding environments
- Excellent situational awareness and hazard recognition
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Mechanical aptitude for identifying equipment issues
- Must have valid safety tickets (CSTS-2020, H2S Alive, WHMIS 2015, Fall Protection, Confined Space, First Aid, AWP)
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Must be willing to complete a criminal background check
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
